Clarke Strings & Sound is a culmination of over ten years of training and work in the music industry surrounding Washington, D.C. While earning my fine arts degree at the University of Maryland, I started servicing Fender Rhodes electric pianos and quickly developed a passion for repairing electro-mechanical instruments. After building my first replica Rhodes "Piano Bass" for a professional pianist in Germany, I branched into guitar repair work, and later, restoration. I refined my skills over the years through practicing guitar repair and restoration at Chuck Levin's Washington Music Center and other local service centers. Now I have opened this shop to bring my experience home to the DMV music community!
ABOUT THE SHOP
I've been passionately serving the area's local stringed instrument community for the past six years. I've worked with the likes of Paul Reed Smith, Kevin Brubaker, Andrew Holland, Dru Lore, and more in my education on proper guitar design, action, and tone.
CERTIFIED AND GUARANTEED
My repair work has been certified by both Taylor Guitars and Fender Musical Instrument Co., and is guaranteed to meet factory repair standards for quality and durability. All of my work comes with a minimum 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
PASSION FOR VINTAGE GEAR
I service all types of instruments, vintage and modern. Some of my specialties include vintage guitars crafted in Japan and Europe in the 1960's, and electromechanical keyboards such as the Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer Electric Piano.
